Company History

Stairways Midlands was formed during 1989 manufacturing timber staircases for new homes. The manufacturing unit was located in Bridgewater , Somerset and was able to produce 10 flights per week.

Within a few years the unit at Bridgewater was reaching capacity with future orders rolling in. Stairways Midlands needed to acquire larger premises and relocated to Cannock , Staffordshire. The new unit had the capabilities to manufacture on a mass production scale and offer a ‘factory pre finishing’ service. Today, the Cannock operation has been relocated to Walsall, following the Groups acquistion of 'Brankbrook' during 2005. At Walsall, which no longer trades as 'Brankbrook' and has now been fully intergrated as part of The Stairways Group, we have a Staircase manufacturing capacity of 250 flights per week, offering pre assembled and pre finished flights to many national developers and house builders.

A few years after Cannock was commissioned Stairways Midlands launched a new product, the Door set. The Door set began manufacture at Leamington Spa during 2000. The product very quickly became sought after and became the answer to many builders on site problems.

With demand and the range of doors ever increasing, Stairways acquired further premises in Leamington Spa. Today the Door Division have the capacity to produce 1000’s of door sets and door kits per week, complete with a wide range of factory servicing options and door finishes.

In the years that followed, Stairways Midlands ventured into further opportunities within the market place and added additional products to its range, all designed with the developer and house builder in mind. It became the company's objective to be a ‘one stop shop’ supplier. New products included an architectural ironmongery service, wardrobe shelving kits, veneered MDF products and other joinery items.

In 2001 Stairways purchased the Welshpool operation to manufacture door sets and veneered MDF products. Welshpool became the company's manufacturing and distribution centre to service our customers ‘North’ of the country.

With several premises operational and a loyal customer base, Stairways Midlands Ltd had become a strong contender within the construction industry. Constant investment in machinery, systems and people means the company is a growing success.

Stairways Midlands, known, as 'The Stairways Group of Companies', operates from Three manufacturing units;

• Stairways Midlands Ltd T/As MDF Profiles Ltd – Welshpool, Powys
• Stairways Midlands Ltd – Walsall , West Midlands
